 
Introducing Matthew & Helen
At the start of 2012 we were delighted to welcome Matthew & Helen Browell to Acorn, as Matthew begins a part-time role at the church as the new ‘Youth Work Co-ordinator’. Matthew is also a member of a well-known local band ‘The Steels’ and Helen is currently studying medicine at Sunderland University.
In all of our youth programmes here at Acorn the aim is to provide environments of Fun, Friendship and Faith. We welcome all young people between the ages of 11 – 18 to come and check out one of our groups.

RS2 has been running for 8 years at Acorn and is proving to be a very effective programme. It helps young people (11-14’s) to engage with each other and to discover more of how the Christian faith is relevant for their world today.

Mettle is a 2 hour weekly programme with the goal of discipleship. The various elements usually include bible study, discussion, prayer, refreshments and more…

Skateboard Club
 Wednesdays Jan 18th, Feb 1st, Feb 29th, Mar 14th, Mar 28th, Apr 11th (6.30 - 8.30pm)
Here at Acorn we are offering a unique opportunity for young people to develop their skateboarding skills once a fortnight here at Acorn. On Wednesday October 5th (6.30-8.30pm) we will be launching skateboarding club, which includes the chance to use our portable ramps, input from experienced coaches and refreshments – all for just £2/session.

 Looking Ahead
In the summer of 2012 Acorn will be working alongside ‘More Than Gold’ in local Olympic outreach initiatives. To help us to connect with young people through sport and other activities we’ll be hosting a team from YWAM in Norway between July 21st-30th.
